The #75828 LEGO Ghostbusters Ecto-1 & Ecto-2will be available in July 1st for $59.99. Notice that the proton-packs include the gold-bar piece in black! There are also other exciting new elements that you will notice from the pictures. Of course we also get all the ghostbusting equipment, including ghost-traps and proton-packs with new printing. It is already on my list of most favorite minifigures ever released by LEGO. And there is also a scary looking red demon with translucent black wings and gorgeous printing.

Just look at those gorgeous new hairpieces! The fifth human minifigure is Kevin (Chris Hemsworth), who – it appears – at some point in the movie becomes possessed. The #75828 LEGO Ghostbusters Ecto-1 & Ecto-2includes in minifigure form the new female cast for the rebooted movie Erin Gilbert (Kristen Wiig), Abby Yates (Melissa McCarthy), Jillian Holtzmann (Kate McKinnon), Patty Tolan (Leslie Jones). There is not a whole lot more to say about the bike, so I will just leave it at that. The Ecto-2 bike that comes with the set is pretty basic, and unfortunately the Ghostbusters logo at the front is a sticker. They are excellent examples of minifig-scale classic cars, and could be used as a study to build similar vehicles. I really like the original Ecto-1 and I like this one too. While the size of the new Ecto-1 looks the same as the original, and the shaping is also quite similar, it will be interesting to see the differences in details and building techniques between the two versions.

They don’t appear to be too essential however, so if you don’t like stickers you can probably leave them off. However most of the other decorations are stickers. It appears that the pinstripes on the sides are printed, and the Ghostbusters logo and the license-plate are definitely printed as they were printed in the original set.

The roof can still be removed – like in the earlier version – to get full access to the inside, and the top is full of awesome ghostbusting stuff. This also means that the steering-wheel in the new version is placed properly to the left, instead of being in the middle. While in the earlier Ecto-1 the doors and trunk were not functional (so you had to pretend that the minifigs could get in and out in the normal way), the upgraded version got opening front doors and an opening trunk.Īnother major improvement is that now you can sit four minifigures easily in two rows, while in the earlier version that was not possible. There are some interesting differences and even improvements on the #75828 LEGO Ghostbusters Ecto-1 compared to the original #21108 LEGO Ideas Ghostbusters Ecto-1 from 2014. So yes, this is going to be the second LEGO Ghostbusters Ecto-1. The set is based on the new Ghostbusters movie directed by Paul Feig and scheduled for release this summer. Instead he gave us a movie which ultimately is 90% a retread of the 1984 film.A few days ago LEGO revealed the first official images of the #75828 LEGO Ghostbusters Ecto-1 & Ecto-2 via their Facebook and Twitter pages. He could’ve done some amazing, original stuff. He set it in Manhattan, gave them an old white & red Cadillac, and housed them in Hook & Ladder 8. He put them in matching boiler suits, with the old logo on their sleeves. It’s a new universe, and Paul Feig could have done some truly original stuff (like he promised), so what did he do? He cast three white actors & one black actor. The new team could roll around in an old icecream truck, an RV, a garbage truck, or literally any other vehicle. And lastly, don’t have them riding around in a vintage white & red Cadillac. They could make their HQ a funeral home, an old church, or they could just not have an HQ. A different logo wouldn’t confuse audiences just think of how often they change the Batman and Spider-man logos. Give them a different logo it can still have the white ghost & red slash, but it should be something new. Set it in LA, Chicago, or New Orleans (NOLA would actually be a dope place to set a Ghostbusters movie, given its history).

It’s a new cast, in a new universe, so don’t set it in New York. You know, when it was announced that Paul Feig was making a new Ghostbusters movie, and that it was completely removed from the original films, I thought “Okay, I can see this working as long as they change some stuff.”
